Wow, I guess I DO have some followers, as so many people have reminded me that there are no new posts. :)
The elections went just fine. More oppostion seats for parliament were won and our State won all it's seats for the opposition. I think C still will hold a slight majority in Parliament so he is declaring victory as well. Both sides are happy. The problem is the seats don't change until January so there is a fear that there will be many laws changed over the next 3 months. The crazy time will be in two years. If C wins he will continue to run the country into the ground. But, if the oppostion wins, then there will most likely be the civil unrest amongst "the people", there will be ousting of cronies and more cronies, there will be a long recovery period from the mess of 12 years.
Two weekends ago, we did end up going out in Victor's friend's boat and had a nice day of snorkling, kayaking, lunch. It was nice. And we had a fun day diving the next day. Isabella is certified SCUBA now and Xela did a discovery dive and loved it so she is now studying her SCUBA and has her first pool dive this thursday night. If you go to bahiadivers.net you can see pictures posted of all three of us diving underwater and some of the cool things we saw. Our next dive together is a holloween dive with masks, carving pumpkins underwater and something special on dry land on one of the islands. The woman who owns the shop is Canadian and really a great gal.
This past weekend was consumed with a volleyball tournament (we were beaten badly) and Xela's birthday party. She shared her birthday with her best buddy. They only invited the girls (the boys annoy them and they are too wild they say). They did swimming, water ballon toss, silly string fights, pinata, bbq hotdogs, cake and general running around. A bit surprising for some of the parents. What??? no clowns, no hot dog vendor, no jumping castle????? Only ballons for decorations? Xela's bball team got a spankin' yesterday by a boys bball club. Wow, were they good, but Xela gave them a run for their money. They didn't expect a girl to run after them and block, shoot, dribble and make fouls. they doubled up on her. pretty funny. Still, they lost by like a 60 points.
Parent teacher conferences, scuba classes, and packing for the Galapogas right now. No real funny stories to tell. I have had to do a lot of research and contemplation and looking for advice from teaching friends from Tanzania, to Zambia to Big Sky about a position offered to me at the school. I can tell more in 10 days but it has consumed my life these past days as it is not my field and is a HUGE job. More later as things develop.
